John Hume # Gandhi & King.

The cat got the cream
In a thatch in Drumlish
Juice from the Gods
In her own gold rimmed dish
Counting the stars
Like shells on the ridge
A banshee is keening
From Foyle to Banbridge
Forever and more
The people will sing
Of Hume and of Gandhi
And M Luther King
Derry is tearful
As plaintive church bells
Toll for the town
He loved so well
Walking through trunks
Two thousand years old
Riddles of sands
More precious than gold
Bobbling acorns
The tide has dispersed
Hemlock cow-parsley
Sweet Shepard’s purse
Cotton wool surf
In St Finian’s Bay
Where taut leather boats
Tacked into the spray.

Bye for now…Sláinte.

  1. Morning Tom,

Do you have a camera on your laptop or computer? Here is a great way of recording videos of you reading your poetry. It puts your face on the screenshot of the desktop you are reading from.

So in your case, I would give an intro to the poem while highlighting bits of it on the desktop and then read it. It will then give you a link, which you post I the blog and email as you send it, I think people would love it and you wold then have a page on your website of all your videos. And I think it is free by the way!

    Check out this video:

    Go on!
