Rocky # Jimi Hendrix

Bolt was too lofty
Marciano too small
All fine in theory
But practice is all
A prince on the wing
Blonde David Duckham
Gone in a flash
By golly he’d cook em
Gathering my thoughts
At Carrick-a-Rede
Farmers with satchels
Sowing their seeds
Fifty long years
Since J Hendrix died
A music savant
Bent notes on the tide
Grand is the lighthouse
In sweet county Down
A beacon for angels
A diamond-like crown
Edna once more
A child of Tuamgraney
Parchments and scrolls
Luscious and zany
Lapping Lough Derg
And church of St Cronan
A royal at prayer
Peace in the gloaming.

Beidh mé ar ais..Sláinte!
