Plog …. ( Poetry blog)

Liam Reilly # Peter McVerry # Kilimanjaro

Liam Reilly’s the name
Yes I got it wrong
I hope you’ll forgive
I still love your song
I walked Tara Hill
The sun lit the sky
The Helga and Michael
Were in my minds eye
Cork’s John Spillane
And dances of cherries
Lads building houses
For Peter McVerry
Attack on the hill
As Temperatures plummet
Base camp achieved
En route to the summit
Across the long bridge
At Slaney’s least narrow
Snow capped to my left
Was Kilimanjaro
Bright morning sun
The sea was in flames
Jockey and Horse
A faint Jesse James
The ref to our Gary
“That’s no way to ruck”
Gary to me
“He runs like a duck”.

Beidh mé ar ais…Sláinte.
