Plog …. ( Poetry blog)

Fat Larry # Zoom # Ian Dury

Schools are on Zoom
I thought of Fat Larry
Deep winter chill
No time to tarry
All taps still dry
In Ireland’s fine boozers
Keep sailing ahead
We’re no lockdown losers
The hills of Kilkenny
And Edmund I Rice
Old Dolmen graves
Cold- cold as ice
The large one is off
To sweet Mar-a-Lago
While Joe will drink suds
From Maine to Chicago
Oh lovely Clonmel
Or ‘Meadow of Honey’
The drone of the bees
All mellow and sunny
Farewell Éamonn Ryan
A legend of Cork
Like Neptune the brave
With long three pronged fork
Ian Dury was loved
By my best friend’s aunty
She hung out the sheets
In ‘New Boots and Panties’

Beidh mé ar ais…Sláinte.
